Meet Kimberly.

Some of my earliest childhood memories are of exploring the woods around my Pacific Northwest home under the shadow of Mount Si. It's always been a marvel to me how the natural world emerges suddenly in the springtime with white Indian Plum and Trillium blooms alongside vibrant fuchsia Salmonberry flowers and proceeds throughout the summer awash in green, punctuated with bright red Huckleberries and Elderberries that feed the local wildlife. The powerful fall culmination of glorious oranges and yellows, before going to sleep for the dark winter slumber, is a cycle I feel deeply.

As an adult, I've sought to embrace the natural seasonal cycles and re-create a piece of those winding childhood woodland paths throughout the 1-acre property surrounding our home. White Snowdrops and Hellebores, the bravest and most resilient of plants, begin emerging in December, determined to thrive even in the most unpredictable weather, and are followed throughout the coming year with blooms and berries, until the very last fall Dahlia is cut eleven months later.

Over the years, we've enjoyed celebrating each season by decorating our porches and patios with imaginative displays reflecting nature's rhythms, from daffodils and bird nests in spring, to cattails and pumpkins in autumn, and evergreen swags with pinecones and red twig dogwood in winter. In many ways, our rotating flower pot containers and front porch displays are a creative way to bottle up the magic happening in the natural world.
